There are utilities (ccs-auditd and ccs-queryd) that are a part of this latest version of ccs-tools that don't work with the stock 2.6.30 kernel. It seems the kernel doesn't create the necessary files (grant_log and reject_log) for these utilities to interface with. The URL points to a similar bug report for Debian. It seems this issue has been fixed upstream through a minor revision (1.6.8-20090623-1) and the fix implemented by Debian. Gentoo may be able to benefit from this supposed fix as well. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Install ccs-tools. 2. Attempt to run ccs-queryd. 3. It will respond with a "You can't run this utility for this kernel." error. Actual Results: An error was produced by the utility. Expected Results: The utility should run and not immediately stop out with an error. After looking through the diff file referenced by the Debian bug report, I was unable to pinpoint exactly where the fix was implemented. Maybe someone else will have better luck since upstream is indeed marking this as fixed.
Thanks for the report and providing info on the fix. Assigning report to maintainer.
