Right now connecting to a secure (WPA/WPA2) wireless network via the Gentoo install CD is very hard, bordering with impossible. wicd 1.6 would make it much, much easier with it's nice curses interface. Reproducible: Always
wicd-1.5.9-r1 should be part of the livedvd already, 1.6 should go in on the next build and I will make announcement when it's ready for testing here.
ok wicd has been tested and seems to work, so close this bug. kthx and enjoy it darkside :)
I was referring to the ~100MB install CD. Sorry if that wasn't clear. Including wicd to the live cd would enable me and many others to be able to install Gentoo after downloading only a ~100 MB image. Right now the best alternative for me is a 700MB ubuntu live cd. 2GB Gentoo LiveDVD is not what I'm looking for. If wicd cannot be included in the livecd for some reason, please at least provide a guide explaining how to connect to a secure wireless network manually, or otherwise make sure it's reachable from the install cd.
