I'm reporting this bug because the package in summary fails to build when forcing --as-needed on through spec files (check out http://blog.flameeyes.eu/2008/11/14/problems-and-mitigation-strategies-for-as-needed for details). Please note that this bug _might_ apply to -Wl,--as-needed in LDFLAGS as well; in both cases it should be fixed. Also, if this is due to the package in question not respecting user-defined LDFLAGS, you should get to fix that too. Check the attached build log. Thanks, Diego
Created attachment 197318 [details] Build log for app-editors/mlview
Does this fail with set with regular LDFLAGS as well? We are not going to fix things to support wrong things like forcing it through specs. Additionally this library is now deprecated and the code has moved to nautilus since 2.26
You might also want to attach the correct build log. Bug title says it's about eel, but your attached build.log is about mlview.
And you could try to read the bloody log.
Does the problem persist with nautilus? Please take care that, as leio said, eel was incorporated with nautilus and, then, gnome-base/eel-2.24.1 is pretty old Good luck
