The libffado ebuild comes from the pro-audio overlay, so please report this access violation to the bug tracker for the overlay: http://proaudio.tuxfamily.org/bugs/my_view_page.php
I was reporting this as a SANDBOX bug, which I was encouraged to do by someone from the pro-audio overlay. There is apparently nothing wrong with the program I was trying to compile, and I recall having this problem with one or 2 other programs.
There is probably nothing wrong with the program itself that you are trying to build, but it's ebuild needs a little work to fix this issue. Sandbox detected that the build process tried to run "rm -f /usr/bin/ffadomixer" which is not a safe type of operation that the sandbox is supposed to allow. Now if we discover that the emerge did _not_ really try to remove /usr/bin/ffadomixer but that sandbox created a totally spurious message, then the sandbox developers need to investigate. So, if you still suspect that sandbox is broken, try this experiment: set FEATURES=-sandbox and run your emerge with 'strace -j TRACE -e trace=unlink <emerge command here>' Look through the list of unlink operations and see if /usr/bin/ffadomixer is there; if present, it's an ebuild bug, otherwise it could be a sandbox bug.
It's an ebuild issue as far as I can tell. Unless you can show a specific failure in sandbox there's not much we can do.
