Seems field was removed in 2.6.30, see:

http://git.kernel.org/?p=linux/kernel/git/torvalds/linux-2.6.git;a=commit;h=99b76233803beab302123d243eea9e41149804f3

Above 2 patches should address this issue (untested).
Comment 4 Gilles Dartiguelongue (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2009-08-12 18:48:50 UTC
ok, I'll test that patch and commit asap.
Comment 5 James Blanford 2009-08-31 04:49:51 UTC
I believe the patches will fix the compile problems, but you'll get oopses or segfaults. Take a look at the qc-usb-messenger branch and you'll see a patch that deals with v4l file system operations API change. It's an easy fix. They apply everything to 2.6.30, but if you apply the v4l API fixes to 2.6.29 and above, you'll be working up through 2.6.31.

Good luck,

   - Jim
Comment 6 Josh Watts 2009-09-13 15:47:44 UTC
Jim: You're correct on the oops/segfaults.

I've incorporated the changes that were made in qc-usb-messenger (#279992), and it now compiles and runs fine on my AMD64 machine.

+ +qc-usb-0.6.6-r3.ebuild, +files/qc-usb-0.6.6-kcompat-2.6.30.patch:
+ Version bump. Add patch for 2.6.30 compatibility, closes: #277046. Add die
+ calls where needed, make compilation respect a few variables.

Thanks for reporting and providing a patch. I also did some QA with this
ebuild. It appears the module works well with v4l1 but ekiga can't get it in
v4l2 mode. Might need some more work. Anyway if you're satisfied with this
ebuild, please open a stabilization report in a week or so, so we can get this
stable with 2.6.30 stable kernels.
