Description Mathias Weigt 2009-07-08 10:52:09 UTC
The Gentoo-ebuild of smb4k installs smb4k_kill, smb4k_mount and smb4k_umount in /usr/kde/3.5/bin/ but the configuration dialog makes the following changes to /etc/sudoers:

SMB4KUSERS hostname = NOPASSWD: /usr/bin/smb4k_kill
SMB4KUSERS hostname = NOPASSWD: /usr/bin/smb4k_umount
SMB4KUSERS hostname = NOPASSWD: /usr/bin/smb4k_mount

This results in the following:
No error message when trying to mount a share - but actually nothing is mounted.
After correcting /etc/sudoers it worked.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. install smb4k
2. configure for superuser in administrator settings
3. try to mount a share

Actual Results:
Entries in /etc/sudoers are wrong. So calling smb4_mount fails.

Expected Results:
should have made the correct entry in /etc/sudoers or should have a symlink in /usr/bin

Because there is no error report nowhere it took me quite some precious to figure this out. The ebuild could at least write a message about it (even if this is considered to be an upstream bug)

Thanks for your report and analysis of this problem -- assigning to kde team. I'm pretty sure they won't just write this off as an upstream bug ;)
Comment 2 Samuli Suominen (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2009-11-09 20:56:16 UTC
This is fixed by smb4k-0.10.4 because binaries are installed into /usr/bin. Thanks for reporting.
