Zapping this to you since you seem to be the maintainer of the package. the gxine dependencies state this : X? ( virtual/x11 ) gnome? ( gnome-base/ORBit )" And since it is a gtk-2 package it would seem likely that any optional Gnome support would require ORBit2 instead of ORBit (second generation implementation) But, except for this I couldn't find any mention of orbit or corba in the source (simple grep -ir tests) which made me wonder some more.
removed the gnome? () statements, removed old builds and commited to cvs. Sorry if I trampled your toes, but this has been around for a while now.
