Description Olivier Crete (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2009-06-30 20:01:29 UTC
I have LINGUAS="en_CA fr_CA en fr" and no english locale was installed. (I guess en_US needs to be included too).
Comment 1 Olivier Crete (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2009-06-30 20:04:02 UTC
hmm, it seems that there is no .xp file for en_US

en_US is the default for all system installs. Unless I have missed something upstream over the past few months.

In what language did it show up?
Comment 5 Andy Getz 2009-07-01 14:34:43 UTC
In make.conf I have LINGUAS="en ja en_US", and after the bump to 3.5 my Firefox is very much in Japanese. This was not the case with release candidates or betas from the mozilla overlay; if memory serves, those had linguas_en (and/or _en_US, I don't recall) in IUSE as well.
At any rate, I can confirm this bug, although it's good reading practice I suppose =).
Comment 6 Olivier Crete (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2009-07-01 18:27:37 UTC
So it seems that if any "other" language XPI is installed, Firefox shows up in that language instead of in English...
Comment 7 Blu3 2009-07-01 19:36:49 UTC
are there any workarounds yet, or are we forced to re-emerge firefox without any linguas?
Comment 8 Andy Getz 2009-07-01 20:21:53 UTC
A workaround for those who (like me) aren't yet 100% in language #2:
Browse to about:config and set general.useragent.locale to en-US (or the like), then restart Firefox. This applies per-profile.

This issue has (likely) been fixed with -r1, please upgrade and reopen if that's not the case.
