I booted the live cd (gentoo-1.4-i686-1.4-20030806-cd1), at the first prompt I selected "gentoo doscsi" or "smp doscsi" or "smp doscsi nousb". The system hung, the scsi controller was never detected. I cannot install gentoo because I have a scsi cdrom. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1.boot live cd 2.enter "gentoo doscsi" at first prompt 3. Actual Results: System hangs. Expected Results: Detected adaptec scsi controller. Perhaps allowing the user to specify the scsi driver needed instead of "doscsi" to probe would be a good idea. Probing for hardware has a problematic history of success.
Can someone take a look at this? Or maybe suggest a workaround? For those of us with SCSI cd-roms this is a show-stopper.
This bug has been inactive for more than 90 days. Can you please see if this is still a problem with a 2004.2 LiveCD?
Please reopen if issue still exists on newer livecd's.
