Compiling libpcre-7.9-r1 with 'cxx' use flag enable results in the compilation aborting halfway through, complaining about stray backticks.


Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. set use flags for libpcre to include 'cxx'
2. emerge libpcre


Actual Results:  
The compilation stopped halfway through, noting errors.

Expected Results:  
The package should just have compiled.

Could you consider switching to a newer compiler, please? It looks like you should have sys-devel/gcc-4.3.2-r3 installed. You can switch to that version using gcc-config.

Resolved by switching to gcc-4.3.2.
