Working configuration for /etc/dbus-1/system.d/bluetooth.conf

This configuration made blueman working. Direct execution of blueman-manager still won't work, but blueman-applet starts correctly, and other components are accessible from it.

Still, this isn't a default config, and finding it out wasn't obvious.

I had the same problem until I copied the bluetooth.conf attached here.

I've copied the file, but I'm still getting errors at startup, and I cannot use any of the blueman tools.

I've attached the output.

BTW, the new stable version of blueman is 1.21, but is not in portage.

Output of blueman-applet

Output that I've got when running:
    dbus-launch blueman-applet

I'm using xmonad as my window manager.
Comment 5 A. Person 2010-01-25 23:56:55 UTC
I was only able to get it to work by first running blueman-applet and then blueman-manager. They work as a normal user for me, but you might want to try root too.
Comment 6 A. Person 2010-01-26 15:21:36 UTC
Damian, just use the 1.21 ebuild here:

http://bugs.gentoo.org/show_bug.cgi?id=289902

It works better in every way.

I'm using version 1.21, but I still have the same problem (using dbus-launch or without using it) :
"
org.freedesktop.DBus.Error.Spawn.ExecFailed: Failed to execute program /usr/libexec/dbus-daemon-launch-helper: Success

You might not be able to connect to the Bluetooth network via this machine
"

I've also tried the configuration in this page but no luck so far.
Comment 8 Doktor Notor 2010-03-01 20:21:29 UTC
So, I guess noone solved this dbus mess? I actually ended up with DisablePlugins = network in /etc/bluetooth/main.conf to get rid of this enormously annoying message.

(No, 1.21 from Bug 275470 didn't help in any way, though I was able to fix lots of other bugs. Oh, and just in case - please don't get me started with foobarkits, that doesn't count as a solution :P)
Comment 9 Vasily 2010-03-20 10:09:04 UTC
Is there any way to get bluetooth network working with blueman?
Comment 10 Jory A. Pratt gentoo-dev 2010-07-18 04:10:34 UTC
what is the status on this? I am using latest ~arch of blueman without any problem. Maybe we would should shoot for net-wireless/blueman-1.21-r1 for the stable marking.

yes, 1.21-r1 it must be. the ebuild needs fixing, to enable the polkit-1 backend first. it's harddisabled in the ebuild for no good apparent reason.

so fix blueman-1.21-r1 ebuild to be proper -> stabilize it next
Comment 12 Maxim Koltsov (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2014-12-07 19:12:39 UTC
Please reopen it if error happens with current blueman in ~.
