Description alex_g 2009-06-24 11:51:24 UTC
When downloading a torrent the deluged daemon will intermittently max out one CPU core. Exact pattern of CPU usage appears to vary, but approximately 10-50 seconds max, followed by 5 seconds of negligable usage, repeated for as long as deluge is operating and downloading.

Reproducible: Sometimes

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Run Deluge
2. Download a torrent

Actual Results:
One CPU core is maxed out at 100%.

Expected Results:
Expected only ~1% CPU utilisation.

Didn't have the problem on a different computer running Gentoo (no longer have access to that though to check for any differences in setup). Currently running Python-2.5.4-r2, have seen suggestions that python-2.6 fixes the problem.

Please post your `emerge --info' too. Could you also explain a little more about the way deluge is set up? What type of mount do you use for temporary storage, for instance?

Tried updating to python-2.6.2-r1, problem is not fixed, in fact the CPU utilisation now appears to remain at 100% for longer periods.

Both temporary storage space and the location of downloads that Deluge uses are on an Ext3 partition.

The only preferences within Deluge that I've changed since emerging it at to put some global limits on the upload and download bandwidth.

Does it happen with 1.2.0?
