I am checking out differ Linux versions and I am trying to load gentoo on to a Toshiba 1905-S301 Notebook computer. It seems to go through it's boot, but as it's loading it hits ultrastor and just hangs there. System will not boot. I'm new at Linux so a little help here. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1.Put CD in Drive and turned on machine 2.when it gets to boot:I hit enter and then boot starts. 3.goes through it's bootup sequence then just stops at while loading modules when it's scanning for ultrastor.
Please specify what release you used. Is it the autobuilds or the 2008.0 release? If it's the latter, download one of the autobuilds and try that.

I will download the autobuild and try that and let you know. Thank you.
I've experienced the same on an install from the x86-minimal-cd-20090623.iso autobuild.
Can you try booting with 'noload=ultrastor'?
I experienced the same problem with the "2010-02-16"-release (based on 2.6.31-r6) and an earlier release. Booting the livecd via "gentoo noload=ultrastor" solved the problem for me. Best Regards, Yann
The ultrastor device has been disabled in the kernel specs for sometime now. Feel free to reopen if you hit this issue again.
