Description Roman Robel 2009-06-23 12:05:15 UTC
Hi,

iam new on gentoo. Hope youll understand my problems;

when I do "emerge --update --deep --newuse world" there are about 50 packages for update/install etc. on several packages I get the die message "configure is not executable".

for example:
sys-libs/db-4.7.25_p4
sys-libs/e2fsprogs-libs-1.41.6

Can anybody help?

Thanks,
Roman

Reproducible: Always

Please post the output of

  mount

and the output of

  portageq envvar PORTAGE_TMPDIR

Furthermore you filed this bug into the wrong Product category. For problems concerning the OS it's always "Gentoo Linux".
Comment 3 Roman Robel 2009-06-23 12:44:36 UTC
ya, sorry.

mount output:
---
/dev/vzfs on / type vzfs (rw)
proc on /proc type proc (ro)
sysfs on /sys type sysfs (rw)
devpts on /dev/pts type devpts (rw,nosuid, noexec)
binfmt_misc on /proc/sys/fs/binfmt_misc type binfmt_misc (rw,nosuid,nodev,noexec)
---

portageq envvar PORTAGE_TMPDIR output:
---
/var/tmp
---

Thanks

Hmmm.... this looks okay. Please post your "emerge --info", too.

Comment 6 Wormo (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2009-06-27 07:05:54 UTC
This looks like weird behaviour from the virtuozzo vzfs filesystem. I think you need to look for help in getting your virtuozzo guest set up properly (or perhaps run a more stable version of virtuozzo?); it doesn't look like anything you could fix from gentoo running inside the guest.

I don't know how committed you are to using virtuozzo for your gentoo experiments, but if you can't get vzfs to behave itself you might want to try other virtualization methods or scrape up a real machine with spare disk space to play on.

(In reply to comment #3)
> mount output:

> proc on /proc type proc (ro)

/proc should be mounted rw.

Does it help to change that?

Please try Jeroen's suggestion. Reopen this bug if it doesn't help.
