Description Adam Lucarz 2003-08-29 00:00:06 UTC
It seems that kde is using sub-pixel hinting generally. I turned it off, but
nevertheless all anti aliased fonts had been sub-pixeled. But if i turn it on,
i can steer ist with the rgb,bgr,vrgb,vbgr options.

Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:

I had solve this problem with adding the following tag to the font.conf
in /etc/fonts/:

 <match target="font" >
  <edit mode="assign" name="rgba" >
   <const></const>
  </edit>
 </match>

You probably want to make that change to /etc/fonts/local.conf so that it sticks.

Please tell me though how this is a bug? It's something you can configure in fontconfig, so I
don't think it's a kde issue.

Yes, you are right. I can add the tag also to the local.conf. Or, i should do it.

And, of course you are right, that this is not really a bug. But it is a setting which
is not set right. Because if you deselect sub-pixel hinting in the kde control
center it is on in rgb modus nevertheless. I had to search for one week and ask
for help at a forum to get the right set . So it is a difficulty for newbies to find the
setting, what is not necessary.

That is my opinion.

not something we'll fix on the kde side, unfortunately.
