Just out of sanity, there are tons of +x files in the tree, and a lot of those don't need it. Since clearing that +x out is quite difficult (you cannot do it client side, just straight on the CVS server), it would be better to NOT have them added in the future at all.

and a lot of these files should have it -- it's useful to run files directly

also, it can be fixed client side.  simply remove & add the file.
