Sorry, but there's currently no maintainer for mpage, so I don't think this bump will happen anytime soon.  If anyone does pick up mpage though, they should see this bug...

I was just testing several tools (okular, psnup, mpage) to put several slides per sheet, and they all failed. So I actually have no strong personal interest in bumping this either right now.

However I managed to emerge version 2.5.5 of mpage by just cloning the ebuild file and disabling the gcc4 epatch in the .ebuild file. So in case anyone wants to test out mpage 2.5.5, doing so might help you.
