Description Danny 2002-05-15 05:20:42 UTC
Installed from iso image using stage3. Emerged VIM which built X for me in the
proccess. Emerged KDE which (after about a day ;-) build kde3 for me. configured
XF86Config, everything works fine on my IBM T22 laptop, except KMail fails to
collect email from my pop3 ISP account.
Error Message reported back is
'Could not start process POP3'

After seaching Google the only reference I could find to this a news item below:
http://www.google.co.uk/search?q=cache:CUH0hypClj0C:news.uslinuxtraining.com/article.php%3Fgroup%3Dkde.kde-kmail%26post_nr%3D4052+%22could+not+start+process+POP3%22+kde&hl=en

Well, that news article reminds us kdebase is neeeded for kmail, but you
already have that.
Try accessing the pop3 ioslave directly. Access (i.e. via alt+f2 or from the
konqueror location bar) "pop3://user@mailserver", see if that works.

My bad configuration, of Kmail client. The iotest suggested, connected me to the
mail server. Then checked client configuration again and found the host entry to
be blank, though remeber setting it before, honest gov! Doh.
Apologies for the time wasting, and thanks for the response.
