the current k3b version in portage wont compile with kde 4 libs. A version bump would fix this. 

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
emerge k3d
(with kde 4.x)

Actual Results:  
kde 3.5 required

When there is version better than alpha yes, now it is not usable, if you want to test it you can find it in kde-testing overlay.

We added such version to main tree while back.

However, Why don't you want rename 'sabj' (for KDE-4) and make separate package?
It is logically should be 'k4b', I think.

The package is still the same - the supported KDE version is what's changing in the newer versions.
