Description Steven Boothe 2003-08-26 22:30:26 UTC
The following error results when attempting to invoke aspell from any KDE app:

"ISpell/Aspell could not be started. Please make sure you have
ISpell or Aspell configured and in your PATH."

For reference:

*  app-text/aspell

      Description: English (US, British, Canadian) language dictionary for aspell

The dictionary is set to "ASpell", and the
client is set to "Aspell". Notice the difference in
case between the two? The first has an upper case 'S'
while the second one does not. Could that be the problem???

Are those settings in the control center? A few KDE apps have their own
spelling settings, you may want to check the settings of the app you are
trying this in. Also on my box, the Dictionary is "ASpell Default" the
Encoding is "US_ASCII", and the Client is "Aspell".

What happens if you try changing your dictionary to a regional one...
E.g. English (United States Of America). I use English (United Kingdom).

I can't duplicate this behaviour.

Could you give an example of KDE programs which fail to be able to use aspell? What happens if you attempt to use aspell from kmail? Works fine in kmail for me.
