Description Andrés Goens 2009-06-11 00:19:18 UTC
when trying to emerge sys-devel/gcc-4.3.2-r3 it fails, because patch 11_all_gcc-4.3-sparc-gen-crt-start-endfiles.patch cannot be applied.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. emerge -avu gcc
2.
3.

Actual Results:
The same: emerge decompresses the files and when it starts patching it aborts with that error message

Expected Results:
Applied the patch correctly and gone on to compile gcc-4.3.2-r3

Output of the failing patch (last one was wrong)

I mistakenly uploaded the patch itself, and not its output; this time I do include the output of the patch.
Comment 3 Andrés Goens 2009-06-24 22:50:41 UTC
Fixed. It was a dumb mistake actually: USE=vanilla was set, so it would not apply the patch. It seems strange to me that it would actually fail because it tried to patch - but without USE=vanilla it did compile.
Comment 4 Víctor Ostorga (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2009-07-24 14:46:37 UTC
Patch 11_all_gcc-4.3-sparc-gen-crt-start-endfiles.patch can't be applied to gcc vanilla because of missing files

<snip>
can't find file to patch at input line 9
Perhaps you used the wrong -p or --strip option?
The text leading up to this was:
</snip>

Steps to reproduce:
USE="vanilla"   emerge -va =gcc-4.3.2-r4

If USE=vanilla, the PIE patches are no longer applied.
