identical here, also amd64
Another confirmation on amd64 if you want it. (had held off to look as thought it might be a gcc 4.4 issue but appears not from the reporters emerge --info)
Just for clarity, it does compile :) it's the install phase it dies during. --- >>> Completed installing check-0.9.6 into /var/tmp/portage/dev-libs/check-0.9.6/image/ strip: x86_64-pc-linux-gnu-strip --strip-unneeded -R .comment usr/lib64/libcheck.so.0.0.0 usr/lib64/libcheck.a ecompressdir: bzip2 -9 /usr/share/info removing executable bit: usr/lib64/libcheck.la * QA Notice: Package has poor programming practices which may compile * fine but exhibit random runtime failures. * check.c:270: warning: implicit declaration of function 'vsnprintf' * check_log.c:223: warning: implicit declaration of function 'localtime_r' * check_print.c:123: warning: implicit declaration of function 'strdup' * check_msg.c:86: warning: implicit declaration of function 'fileno' * check_str.c:77: warning: implicit declaration of function 'vsnprintf' * * QA Notice: Package has poor programming practices which may compile * but will almost certainly crash on 64bit architectures. * * Function `strdup' implicitly converted to pointer at check_print.c:123 * * Please file a bug about this at http://bugs.gentoo.org/ * with the maintaining herd of the package. * * * ERROR: dev-libs/check-0.9.6 failed. * Call stack: * misc-functions.sh, line 729: Called install_qa_check * misc-functions.sh, line 421: Called die * The specific snippet of code: * die "install aborted due to" \ * The die message: * install aborted due to poor programming practices shown above
Erf... confirming... thank god nobody owns this package...

Bah I forgot to check the bugzilla before committing. Anyway fixed and patch sent upstream.
