With x11-drivers/nvidia-drivers-180.29 I have no vdpau in "mplayer -vo help" and this video output does not work at all. After installing x11-drivers/nvidia-drivers-180.60 and recompiling mplayer vdpau is working.

Now vdpau use flag is broken, please remove it or fix by stabilizing more reсent nvidia-drivers.
