Description Xander 2009-06-06 10:58:28 UTC
I'm trying to emerge (update) sys-apps/sandbox-2.0 and get the error: 'configure: error: cannot run C compiled programs.'. As suggested in the error message i ran emerge using the following statement: "FEATURES=-sandbox emerge sandbox" The result remained the same. I searched through a lot of bugzilla's concerning this error message but couldn't find the good solution to this problem. So i thought this might be a bug.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Run as root emerge -v sandbox
or
2. Run as root FEATURES=-sandbox emerge -v sandbox

Actual Results:
Here is the build log:

i'm just going to guess you've disabled 32bit emulation in your kernel or something. you should be able to reproduce the problem by doing:
echo 'main(){}' > test.c
gcc -m32 test.c
./a.out
