Hi I have for about a week been running a mirror of the Gentoo Distfiles and Portage tree, access allowed with ftp, http and rsync It's avalible at mirror.pudas.net(195.245.242.43), the server i located in Uppsala, Sweden and ar hosted on a 100 MBit/s connection The Server is an dual p2 system and allows 100 simultaneous rsync connection, 200 ftp connections and no limit on the http. The server have been capable of delivering totally 115 Mbit/s to about 300 users when Slackware 8 was released, the server hade two trunked 100 ports back then The admins of the server is best contacted at ftp@pudas.net now the server are rsyncing from www.ibiblio.org::gentoo/ and rsync2.de.gentoo.org/gentoo-portage Regards Fredrik Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. 2. 3.
Is this both an rsync and a source file mirror? The rsync side seems to be about 2.5 hours behind schedule.
Hi Yes, it's both an rsync and a source file mirror and the problem with not beeing in sync was because that the server I was syncing against was out of connections, it happend 19 times the last three days. Now I rsyncing against rsync.informatik.rwth-aachen.de (137.226.34.228) instead. Regards Fredrik
We'll start out getting the rsync mirror going. I'm just starting to catch up with older source mirror requests, so I'll get back to you on that. For the rsync part, I've added 195.245.242.43 to the access list for rsync1.us.gentoo.org. Please update your rsync cron jobs to point to rsync1.us.gentoo.org and post back here when you've done so. We'll monitor the server for a couple days to make sure things are working fine. Thanks.
Now I'm syncing against rsync1.us.gentoo.org and have been doing so for about 6 hours. It seems to work well =) /Fredrik
Do you have the source side syncing every 4 hours? The last update was at "Fri, 29 Aug 2003 06:55:00 +0000" (about 10 hours ago).
This server is now rsync3.se.gentoo.org. Please update the motd file to include that information. I've subscribed <ftp@pudas.net> to our gentoo-mirrors mailing list (low volume). This list is used to discuss mirror-related issues. Thanks for supporting Gentoo. Any updates on the source mirror?
Oh, it seems like I lost one off my answers there. Well .. The sourcemirror i syncing against www.ibiblio.org every 4:th hour. And it works well. Should I use rsync1.us.gentoo.org for the source also? and exclude som directories? My motd is updated, but I can't resolve rsync3.se.gentoo.org dig @udns1.ultradns.net rsync3.se.gentoo.org ; <<>> DiG 8.3 <<>> @udns1.ultradns.net rsync3.se.gentoo.org ; (1 server found) ;; res options: init recurs defnam dnsrch ;; got answer: ;; ->>HEADER<<- opcode: QUERY, status: NXDOMAIN, id: 4 ;; flags: qr aa rd; QUERY: 1, ANSWER: 0, AUTHORITY: 1, ADDITIONAL: 0 ;; QUERY SECTION: ;; rsync3.se.gentoo.org, type = A, class = IN ;; AUTHORITY SECTION: se.gentoo.org. 1D IN SOA udns1.ultradns.net. klieber.gentoo.org. rsync3.se not resolving was a typo on my part. Should start showing up soon. As for syncing the source files, ibiblio is correct for now. I'll check a couple of times to make sure the syncs are OK, then send some instructions on accessing our private mirror (not rsync1.us).
I'm sending you some instructions on accessing our private distfiles mirror. Please let me know once you've updated your scripts to point to this mirror. After that, I'll make a few checks, then we'll add it to the mirrors page. Thanks.
my scripts are updated. /Fredrik
my scripts are updated /Fredrik
The mirror seems to be syncing fine, so I'm ready to add it to the next update of the mirrors page. Is there a name (company, school, etc.) you'd like us to refer to?
sounds nice, and you can put "Pudas mirror project" to refer to.
I've updated our mirrors page to include this server. The changes should be visible within the next day or so. Thanks for supporting Gentoo.
