Description Alex Orange 2009-05-30 16:53:44 UTC
I'm sorry I can't give very many details. The latest change I've made is upgrading to gentoo-sources-2.6.29-r5. I have also recently upgraded to gcc-4.3.2.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. shutdown or restart using the GUI in Gnome.
Actual Results:
Gets stuck at "Deactivating Swap" step.

Expected Results:
Shutdowns or restarts (based on what was selected).

Could you please try going back to your previous kernel, to determine whether it could be a problem with the kernel. Also, could you please try switching to the console, shutting down gnome and shutdown from the console to determine whether it's a Gnome/GUI issue or if it happens in all circumstances...

I have similar freezes when I have swap on a network block device (sys-block/nbd). I think that the freeze results from the network going down before the swap is deactivated.
