A few days ago kid3 1.1 was removed from portage. Now there's only the less advanced 1.0 available and version 1.2, but the latter is KDE4-only. Please bring back 1.1, it's by far better than 1.0 in terms of usability. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce:
Is there something wrong with 1.2? KDE4 is going stable sooner or later, and KDE3 apps needs to die.
1.2 inherits KDE4, and in this case there's a difference between stable and usable. KDE4 doesn't comply to my taste and expectations in terms of every-day use (yet). Perhaps I'll give it a serious try once it reached 4.3. Concerning your argumentation: One great thing about gentoo in opposition to many other current distros is that I still have the choice to use KDE3, instead of being pressed into unproven experiments. And even if your point applies, then still the core issue here remains that instead of the obsolete 1.0, the newer and significantly better 1.1 "died".
If you want to introduce KDE3 compability back to the kid3's ebuild, please do so on latest version and without automagic deps. http://www.gentoo.org/proj/en/qa/automagic.xml
We in kde team wont do it.
As user you can simply use kid3 with qt4 gui in kde3. With no issues. And kde4 will be stabled soon so you can just pull in kde4 deps and use it normaly.

And kde4 > will be stabled soon so you can just pull in kde4 deps and use it normaly. > Exactly; I'm using kid3-1.2-r2 "kde4" version in Xfce4 without any issues Nobody in sound@ will change this, and as you said, nobody in kde@ will change this so -> RESOLVED, WONTFIX
Workaround for KDE3 by using a customized, local ebuild: https://bugs.gentoo.org/show_bug.cgi?id=280790#c7
