Description Michael 2009-05-28 11:47:09 UTC
=net-misc/wicd-1.6.0_beta3
AFAIK depends on >=sys-power/pm-utils-1.1.1 to detect hibernate and similar things. pm-utils depends on various other things that did not work on my ppc64 system (PS3), yet wicd builds nicely without pm-utils.

After adding pm-utils to my profile/package.provided I could build and use wicd-1.6.0_beta3 without problems on my ppc64 system (PS3)

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Install wicd on ppc64

Using pm-utils could be depend on a useflag or simply be excluded for the ppc64 arch.

simply put, the package is not 100% working because upstream provides no way to "disable" pm-utils support. I don't support shipping broken packages. =/

I'll think about this more later and bug upstream about it.

Michael,
I added a pm-utils USE flag, please test 1.6.0 with this flag disabled and then I will request the ppc64 keyword after you confirm. Thanks.

grr, still excluded. You make it surprisingly difficult to contact your through bugzilla. This bug will wait until a confirmation happens.
Comment 5 Michael 2009-07-09 11:37:23 UTC
Please excuse my slow response! Additionally I have a different harddrive in my PS3 right now, so I cannot confirm it. But I can hardly imagine that it would not work, and also following the IRC-discussions I would say we could close this bug.

It will probably take a while until I run my PS3 gentoo again...

I think it will work.

@ppc64: other distros support wicd on the PS3. Please add your keyword (and mask the pm-utils USE flag)

thanks.

Thanks for the note, but you can't resolve bugs if it isn't done yet! We will leave this open for the ppc64 team to add the ~ppc64 keyword
