I just got some questions from a confused user who was trying to follow the guide... The major problem is that he was confused when the guide told him to edit ~/.fluxbox/keys, and he didn't have a ~/.fluxbox directory at all. The catch is that you actually have to *run* fluxbox before you have a ~/.fluxbox/ directory, and the guide doesn't mention this anywhere. I'll see about writing a better guide, or patching this guide, but if someone else has time, I'd be happy to collaborate on it.
Created attachment 192618 [details, diff] Patch to fluxbox-config.xml Here's a preliminary edit which does the following changes besides mentioning that you should run fluxbox before trying to edit the configuration: - The section "Fluxbox Syntax for Vim" is gone... this is done via the vim-syntax USE flag now. - The section "Application Launcher" is gone. The default menu already has a "Run" entry that executes 'fbrun'. Once 1.1.1 goes stable (in about a month), this whole page should be really torn apart and redone... A lot has changed in 2 years! Probably the best thing from the perspective of this document is that the default keys file that comes with 1.1.1 is much richer than in previous versions.
Looks like Jim was working with an outdated copy of our XML. He's aware of the issue and will be posting an updated patch, so I'll take this one.

I have replaced the old "Application Launcher" section with a new one called "Running Fluxbox for the First Time". Hope this works out better for you.
