Description Paul Slinski 2003-08-22 06:48:46 UTC
While this appears to happen with Firebird as well, my particular problem is
with Thunderbird.

Before the mozilla-thunderbird-0.2_alpha20030813 release, Thunderbird worked
fine, now when it is started as a non root user (and sometimes as a root user)
it fails to start.

If you require any other data/tests please let me know.

Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1. Upgrade to net-mail/mozilla-thunderbird-0.2_alpha20030813
2. Attempt to run it as a non-root user.
3. Scratch head.

Actual Results:
There are two different ways it crashes (neither without a informitive error):
1) It will hang and need to be sent KILL (TERM will not work).
2) It will start and exit shortly. The GUI portion will not be displayed.

This may be an upstream problem, but I thought I should report it. Certainly I
dont expect much stability from an alpha, but it should be addressed somewhere ;-)

Expected Results:
I ran Thunderbird with --debug and gdb. The following is the result:

[New Thread 16386 (LWP 30940)]
[New Thread 32771 (LWP 30941)]
[New Thread 49156 (LWP 30942)]
[New Thread 65541 (LWP 30943)]

Program received signal SIGSEGV, Segmentation fault.

This bug report turned out a bit sloppy (it's early morning for me) :-)

One more thing to add, when you send KILL it will output the following:

/usr/lib/MozillaThunderbird/run-mozilla.sh: line 454: 15535 Killed                  "$prog" ${1+"$@"}
