Description Peter Waller 2009-05-23 18:03:16 UTC
Steps to reproduce

File->New->From existing project

Select a directory containing lots of source files.

Get the folowing message:
"Could not find a valid project backend for the directory given (/home/pwaller/Projects/*). Please select a different directory, or try upgrading to a newer version of the Gnome Build Framework."
Comment 1 Peter Waller 2009-05-23 18:11:08 UTC
Here are the versions I have unmasked:

=dev-libs/gnome-build-2.24.1 ~amd64
=dev-libs/gdl-2.24.0 ~amd64
Comment 2 Gilles Dartiguelongue (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2009-06-01 21:13:38 UTC
please try with 2.26.2.0. There is little chance we are going to fix 2.24 at this point since it has a lot of known bugs besides what is listed in our own bugzilla and it wasn't handled in due time.
Comment 3 Peter Waller 2009-06-02 10:19:40 UTC
I get this:

Could not find a valid project backend for the directory given (/home/pwaller/Projects/PyOpenTTD/openttd). Please select a different directory, or try upgrading to a newer version of Anjuta.

With the following packages unmasked, with the gnome overlay.

=dev-util/anjuta-2.26.2.0 ~amd64
=gnome-extra/libgda-4.1.0 ~amd64
=dev-libs/gdl-2.26.2 ~amd64
=net-libs/webkit-gtk-1.1.7 ~amd64
=dev-util/devhelp-0.23 ~amd64
=net-libs/libsoup-2.26.2 ~amd64
=gnome-base/gnome-keyring-2.26.1-r1 ~amd64
=net-libs/libproxy-0.2.3 ~amd64

=dev-libs/libunique-1.0.8 ~amd64
=dev-util/glade-3.6.3 ~amd64
Comment 4 Peter Waller 2009-06-02 10:26:04 UTC
(In reply to comment #3)

After RTFM,

"The import project feature only works if your existing project uses autoconf/automake or, to a very limited extent, a plain Makefile."

Maybe this bug is invalid? I presumed it was a bug because of the wording, but maybe now I think otherwise.

Comment 5 Gilles Dartiguelongue (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2009-06-02 11:42:29 UTC
yes the import feature is quite limited. Request for support of additional kind of build system would be best filled at upstreams bugzilla, http://bugzilla.gnome.org/

Closing invalid per comment #4. Thanks for getting back to us.
