Description Alexander Coers 2003-08-22 00:33:40 UTC
In order to build programs with kerberos4 support (e.g. Evolution) you have to use the
following use flags : krb4, kerberos. The first one will enable Kerberos4, the second
Kerberos in general (build app-crypt/mit-krb5). What about unification ?
Why not enable both versions with use=Kerberos ??

In current state, you wont be able to build Evolution with Kerberos4 support.

who is our kerberos person?

rphillips did the krb4/5 stuff, iirc.

anyway, it is evolution related, so i'm assigning to gnome

I'm not sure this is only evo btw ? It's about the unification of 2 USE flags into one.
Comment 4 Mike Gardiner (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2005-03-21 18:00:44 UTC
What about people that only want krb5 support? The flags as they are make sense to me, 5 by default + 4 if you specify krb4.

Seemant, can you comment or close? Thanks.

The only comment I can make is that I'd like to see krb4 deprecated outta here, but that's probably not going to happen soon. In the meantime, separate flags for kerberos (which assumes krb5) and krb4 were done for a reason -- ie krb4 being too old and crusty for most people to want, so those who do have to specifically say so. Sorry, but we'll keep the current scheme as is.
