server name mirrors.tds.net ip address 216.170.230.33 contact information ( mirrors@tds.net ) I'd like to become a new rsync mirror Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. 2. 3.
I have rsync going for gentoo-portage mirroring every 30 minutes. I also have "Source" mirroring to http://mirrors.tds.net/gentoo Full Copy, rsynced every 4 hours.. Please let me know what else I need to do. Shane.
We'll start out getting the rsync mirror going. I'm just starting to catch up with older source mirror requests, so I'll get back to you on that. For the rsync part, I've added 216.170.230.33 to the access list for rsync1.us.gentoo.org. Please update your rsync cron jobs to point to rsync1.us.gentoo.org and post back here when you've done so. We'll monitor the server for a couple days to make sure things are working fine. Thanks.
Do you have the source side syncing every 4 hours? The last update was at "Fri, 29 Aug 2003 06:55:00 +0000".
This server is now rsync26.us.gentoo.org. Please update the motd file to include that information. I've subscribed <mirrors@tds.net> to our gentoo-mirrors mailing list (low volume). This list is used to discuss mirror-related issues. Thanks for supporting Gentoo. Any update on the source mirror?
For the source mirror I checked the cron and it seems to be running. I see files from Yesterday in the snapshots dir. I am pulling from www.bibblio is that correct? How are you seeing that I havent updated source since Friday? I have source available via http and ftp right now. Let me know so I can look into it further.
I look at the contents of distfiles/timestamp.chk which contains the date (in date -uR format) of the last sync. I than check the current time (date -uR) and compare the two. Anything significantly over 4 hours (about 15 or so minutes) is considered to not be in sync. Just now, I did a check. timestamp.chk contents: Wed, 03 Sep 2003 06:55:01 +0000 current time : Wed, 03 Sep 2003 22:34:09 +0000
I have the cron using rsync -avzC and it wasen't catching updates ( PS That's what I use for portage). I switched to rsync -av and it seems to be catching things now. What are the recomended options?
Also I pulled the timestamp.chk file from ibiblio and it had the same time as I did?
I misunderstood how the source mirror syncing process works on our end. Thanks for pointing out that your timestamps have been matching ibiblio's. Looks like they don't sync very often. I'll send some instructions on how to access our private distfiles mirror.
The source mirror is ready now and pulling from the new server. Please list me on the "Mirrors List" as TDS Internet Services. I'll open rsync:mirrors.tds.net/gentoo as well so I have sources available via http, ftp and rsync. Shane.
Are you having any server problems? I'm not getting a response.
I'm getting a response now, but it is currently 1 hour behind. OSU's current timestamp is "Tue, 09 Sep 2003 00:55:00 +0000" and this server has "Mon, 08 Sep 2003 19:55:00 +0000".
Things should be getting back to normal after the server reboot. I am re-checking the mirrors now, but all should be stable and solid by midnight. Shane.
The mirror has been added to the mirrors page. Thanks for supporting Gentoo.
