Hello, keep up the great work with Gentoo and OpenOffice. The last ebuild, openoffice-3.1.0, installs .desktop files in /usr/share/applications and /usr/lib/openoffice/share/xdg/. The former files have correct icon references, while the latter do not. As a consequence, the KDE start menu shows two entries for each OpenOffice programs, one with an icon and one without it. My workaround is to remove the /usr/lib/openoffice/share/xdg/ directory.
It is not a problem with the ebuild itself; it seems the source tree is responsible for this redundancy.
I've just updated the OOo 3.1.0 ebuild to use the just released ooo-build 3.1.0.5 patch set. This should have a fix for this problem, so it would be great if you could rebuild and see if it helps.
The redundant entries only appear when I type the name of an OO application in the KDE menu's search box. However, I have not found them when browsing the menu; this problem might be some bug with KDE instead of OO. Moreover, redundant menu entries are shown for other applications, like wpa_gui, Mozilla Firefox and other non-KDE applications, which do not install redundant .desktop files. I come to the conclusion that the present bug is invalid for OpenOffice. I am posting it in the KDE bug system: http://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=194306
Fabio, it seems more likely that you have a bug somewhere in your kde configuration. I don't know which kde version you use, but it might be more appropriate for you to reassign this bug to the kde team. The config problem has actually a high probability to be gentoo related.
