Description Paul Hewlett 2009-05-18 19:17:26 UTC
Latest emerge fails because of conflict between bluez and bluez-utils/bluez-libs.
Bluez is pulled in by kvm which has been recently modified to use a bluetooth USE flag (see bug 261978).
Fixed by disabling bluetooth USE flag for kvm.

Error message after turning on the bluetooth USE flag for kvm is:

These are the packages that would be merged, in order:

Comment 3 Mike Auty (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2009-05-20 21:55:37 UTC
First off, you're mixing ARCH and ~ARCH packages, so you're bound for some trouble. The stable packages (such as gvfs-1.0.3-r2, obexftp-0.22) don't yet have support for bluez-4, because no version of bluez-4 is classed as stable yet. You could go completely to bluez-4 by upgrading the four packages on your system (kdebluetooth, gvfs, obexftp and one other by the output of emerge), removing bluez-utils and bluez-libs and then installing bluez (the latest versions of the three known packages all support bluez-4).

However since it appears from bug 261978 that kvm will build against either bluez-3 or bluez-4, my guess is that the deps on kvm could be changed to "|| ( net-wireless/bluez net-wireless/bluez-libs )" depending on whether kvm needs both bluez-libs and bluez-utils or just bluez-libs. As such I'm reassigning to kvm devs, but given you're mixing stable and unstable packages, it's entirely up to them whether they decide to make this change or not...
Comment 4 sigo 2009-06-27 09:27:45 UTC
Of course we can set USE="-bluetooth" for kvm - that's workaround, but it's working.
Comment 5 Daniel Gryniewicz (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2009-09-21 15:02:46 UTC
I can't maintain kvm anymore.
Comment 6 Samuli Suominen (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2009-10-13 12:00:16 UTC
There's nothing to fix, the only supported way is bluez-4.
kdebluetooth has been masked for removal.
