Code Listing 2.10 Appears To Apply Only To USB Mice and the preceding sentence are actually applicable to all mouse installs, not just USB mice. (Sort of - I don't think usbcore is needed for a ps/2 mouse.) Unfortunately, because of the way the document is formatted, this material seems only relevant to those installing usb mice. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. 2. 3. Actual Results: A ps/2 mouse that doesn't scroll Expected Results: Enable scrolling on a ps/2 mouse I don't know whether it is better to put a new heading on this material or to rewrite it for ps/2 specifically and put it at the end of the ps/2 section.
The section is called "Configuring a USB Mouse". Information regarding PS/2 is the section before.
The difficulty is that - I believe - at least one of the modules listed in 2.10 is required to make the scroll wheel on a non-usb mouse work. (I may be wrong, but I followed the docs to the letter and ended up with a non-scrolling ps/2 mouse. It was only after adding several of the modules listed in 2.10 that the scroll function started working.)
they arent ... i use a ps2 scroll mouse on my box w/out any of those features built in or in module format ...
bah, input/mousedev are ... then again, who makes those modules anyways :P
So input/mousedev should be included regardless of used protocol?
Created attachment 16723 [details, diff] Add a paragraph for the input/mousedev kernel stuff Is this sufficient?
I have tested this again, and I think I was just wrong. I have done a new install on a new machine, and the scroll mouse works without the added modules. Please accept my apologies for wasting your time.
Okay, invalidating. Thanks for the report.
