This might be a duplicate of bug #268907
Can you reproduce the problem with >=kernel-2.6.29.3?
Comment 3 Vytautas 2009-05-21 08:30:31 UTC
I can not use 2.29.[1,2,3] kernel because Xorg hangs badly with it. After entering Openbox menu. So hard to say.
Comment 4 Vytautas 2009-05-22 12:38:09 UTC
Oh there is new version.
I will test gentoo-sources-2.6.29-r4.

Comment 6 Rémi Cardona (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2009-06-11 06:15:31 UTC
Here's a few things you should try :

1) remove _ALL_ kernel framebuffer drivers (vesafb, uvesafb, intelfb)
2) unmask xorg-server 1.6 and rebuild all your X drivers : emerge -1 $(qfile -Ic x11-drivers/)
3) make sure that Xorg.0.log shows _both_ "UXA" and "DRI2" (you can grep for them)
4) with a newer kernel (such as 2.6.30), you can try with and without KMS by passing "i915.modeset={0,1}" in your grub.conf.

Thanks

2.6.29 vanilla worked good here too.

since upgrade to 2.6.30 i've the same issue
Comment 8 Rémi Cardona (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2009-06-17 20:32:25 UTC
Please try updating to xorg-server 1.6, make sure that both UXA and DRI2 appear in Xorg.0.log.

Please get back to us once you've tested this configuration.

Thanks
