Description Christian Rubbert 2002-01-22 12:00:35 UTC
Hey!
I noticed that xchat (my favourite X IRC client) segfaults in KDE, someone in
#gentoo mentioned it segfaults ins blackbox, too. So I unmerged it, remerged it,
but had no luck..

Then i noticed there is a --disable-gnome in ./configure, and the ebuild uses it
when gnome is NOT defined in make.conf's USE.

Compiling without --disable-gnome will cause that xchat segfaults in any other
WM than Gnome it seems. So maybe you should check if kde is defined in USE, too
,and then use -disable-gnome to disable gnome specific extensions.

I will email the xchat author about it, too.

This shouldn't be assigned to me. Since xchat segfaults in all non-gnome
WMs, it's a gnome problem not a kde one.

no it's a xchat problem and I thought it would be good if someone _not_ running
GNOME could handle. Are you afraid of bugs or what's the matter?!?!

I've been using xchat since months without any problem running sawfish and gnome
in my USE vars. Not one single segfault!

Well, I've emerged xchat both with and without gnome in USE and it doesn't
crash. Any ideas on reproducing the segfault? What do you have in USE
other than gnome?

Since there's been no reply and I was unable to reproduce the bug, I can't
do anything about it. If the problem recurs, reopen it, and either give more
information or find a developer who can reproduce it and assign it to him.
