Description Peter Svec 2009-05-14 17:30:15 UTC
With current portage tree (timestamp Thu May 14 12:11:45 UTC 2009) you get some file collisions owned by kdebase-kioslaves when emerging krusader.
Some days before (with older tree) it worked.

I suppose it has to do something with the preperations for the shiny new slotted KDE-4.2 because the positions of some krusader files have changed now (while staying the same version 1.90.0).

Example:
- before (without KDE-3.5 prefix/slot)
/usr/lib/kde3/kio_tar.so
- new (with KDE-3.5 prefix/slot)
/usr/kde/3.5/lib/kde3/kio_tar.so

I also see the new 3.5 prefix now on other (working) applications too, like kdiff3.

Please look also in coresponding forum thread:
http://forums.gentoo.org/viewtopic-t-763754.html

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. update system to current portage tree (tested timestamp Thu May 14 12:11:45 UTC 2009)
2. emerge -av =kde-misc/krusader-1.90.0
3. -> file collison with kde-base/kdebase-kioslaves-3.5.9

Actual Results:
--------- snap --------
>>> Installing kde-misc/krusader-1.90.0
 * checking 269 files for package collisions
 * This package will overwrite one or more files that may belong to other
 * packages (see list below). You can use a command such as `portageq
 * owners / <filename>` to identify the installed package that owns a
 * file. If portageq reports that only one package owns a file then do
 * NOT file a bug report. A bug report is only useful if it identifies at
 * least two or more packages that are known to install the same file(s).
 * If a collision occurs and you can not explain where the file came from
 * then you should simply ignore the collision since there is not enough
 * information to determine if a real problem exists. Please do NOT file
 * a bug report at http://bugs.gentoo.org unless you report exactly which
 * two packages install the same file(s). Once again, please do NOT file
 * a bug report unless you have completely understood the above message.
 *
 * Detected file collision(s):
 *
 *      /usr/kde/3.5/lib/kde3/kio_tar.la
 *      /usr/kde/3.5/lib/kde3/kio_tar.so
 *      /usr/kde/3.5/share/services/tar.protocol
 *      /usr/kde/3.5/share/services/zip.protocol
 *      /usr/kde/3.5/share/services/ar.protocol
 *
 * Searching all installed packages for file collisions...
 *
 * Press Ctrl-C to Stop
 *
 * kde-base/kdebase-kioslaves-3.5.9
 *      /usr/kde/3.5/lib/kde3/kio_tar.la
 *      /usr/kde/3.5/lib/kde3/kio_tar.so
 *      /usr/kde/3.5/share/services/ar.protocol
 *      /usr/kde/3.5/share/services/tar.protocol
 *      /usr/kde/3.5/share/services/zip.protocol
 *
 * Package 'kde-misc/krusader-1.90.0' NOT merged due to file collisions.
 * If necessary, refer to your elog messages for the whole content of the
 * above message.
--------- snap --------

Expected Results:
Should just emerge cleanly like before!

krusader-1.90.0-r2.ebuild.diff

I think it better solution of collisions then rm -rf at -r1

Just tested Yar Odin's -r2 patch and it installs OK, no file collisions. Thanks.
