Description f.mensik 2009-05-14 09:10:13 UTC
I have gcc-3.3.6-r1 compiler and I can't build sys-apps/file and sys-apps/pciutils packages.

When I build sys-apps/file-5.03 package, the compiler reports this error:
  cc1: error: unrecongnized option `-Wextra'

When I build sys-apps/pciutils-3.1.2 package, the compiler reports this error:
  cc1: error: unrecongnized option `-fvisibility=hidden'

Reproducible: Always

Perhaps upstream has decided to
not support an outdated compiler ?
Comment 2 Peter Alfredsen (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2009-05-15 20:56:50 UTC
Please update your compiler or file bugs with patches that have been accepted upstream.
