Hi,
this used to work in the past but now "null/" gets pulled in. Why?

Comment 1 Andrew Gaffney (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2009-05-12 12:23:38 UTC
I fail to see what this has to do with gentoolkit.
Comment 2 Martin Mokrejš 2009-05-12 12:28:57 UTC
Maybe nothing, I just thought it was this recent upgrade causing it. ;)
Comment 3 Zac Medico gentoo-dev 2009-06-03 18:06:52 UTC
Apparently you don't have those packages installed, and that's why it expands the category to null/.

True.
Comment 5 Zac Medico gentoo-dev 2009-06-05 09:53:41 UTC
Ok, so those packages can't be uninstalled and the behavior seems acceptable.
Comment 6 Martin Mokrejš 2009-06-05 09:57:32 UTC
But tha used to be a nice feature to walk over all packages from a group to emerge or unmerge them, whatever. Could portage not print the package at all if it is not available, as before? That is, make it more silent?
Comment 7 Zac Medico gentoo-dev 2009-06-06 04:07:10 UTC
I can strip off the null/ part and just show the name, but I think it should still notify about non-existing packages (except maybe in --quiet mode).

Please do so.

> still notify about non-existing packages (except maybe in --quiet mode).

Fine with me. Thanks.
Comment 10 Zac Medico gentoo-dev 2011-02-22 19:51:49 UTC
This is fixed in 2.1.9.41 and 2.2.0_alpha25.
