Hi all! I think it could be interesting to add support for ccache into the genkernel script. Another enhancement : the genkernel script could clean up the kernel tree (make mrproper) before proceeding the kernel compilation. I think of this because I had emerged gentoo-sources and customized my kernel before trying genkernel. The genkernel script failed at first, surely because of the previous hand-made generation (a mrproper in the kernel tree solved the problem).
This is also an issue as even with an Athlon XP disk set, genkernel sets up the config for an i386. Users (like me) who later realise this and change it will be hit with _mmx_memcpy unresolved problems until they do a make mrproper on the src tree.
OK, will be fixed in 1.6. Thanks! :)

Created attachment 21630 [details] genkernel with --ccache, --xconfig, --gconfig I wanted a USE-Flag check. But it should be --noccache instead of --ccache to use it... --xconfig and --gconfig simply replace make menuconfig with make xconfig or make gconfig.
This does not appear to be in portage as of genkernel-3.3.11 . Was this going to be merged? Thanx Muchly, Frank Russo
