I am pretty sure that this is the same as bug #269283. This is the same result I get. However bootstrap-lean or whatsoever is not the problem. The problem is the " unfinished job ". If you compile with MAKEOPTS=-j1 you will probably see it freezing at " Source Compiled " . 

If you continue with "ebuild /usr/portage/sys-deve/gcc/gcc-4.3.3-r2 install" it will probably continue, then qmerge.

I am interested in you results, but unfortunately I am not a developer...

Is this reproducible in the same spot every time?
