Description Jeff Hubbs 2009-05-05 14:28:53 UTC
Any invocation of sniffit -s (version 0.3.7) segfaults.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Emerge sniffit on x86_64 system (0.3.7 is what's current in Portage)
2. sniffit -s localhost
3. Observe "Segmentation fault"

Actual Results:
Segmentation fault

Expected Results:
Some sort of sniffit output

Don't understand why this was ever unmasked for amd64 arch

fyi, FreeNode user jazzdog told us about a fix he came up with for ubuntu in #g-bugs: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/sniffit/+bug/107180/comments/15
Comment 4 Jeroen Roovers (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2010-09-16 16:38:46 UTC
While I was unaware of that patch I seem to have replicated it astonishingly closely. Something similar is now applied in =net-analyzer/sniffit-0.3.7-r2. Please try it out. Reopen this bug if the problem persists.
