Description Paul de Vrieze (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2009-05-02 20:29:22 UTC
I have a serious issue with dual screen and fglrx. Basically, while xrandr 1.2 is enabled and working, the screen information is not visible through the XINERAMA extension (and therefore to clients using libXinerama instead of xrandr). When looking at xdpyinfo I see that the XINERAMA extension is reported twice. When looking at the X log, I see that fglrx loads its internal xinerama support (which it shouldn't):
fglrx(0): Initialized in-driver Xinerama extension

And later Xorg does as well:
Initializing built-in extension XINERAMA

It seems to me that the builtin support in the server (which basically provides xrandr info as xinerama info for clients) is somehow overridded by the driver. As I can not find any info on the web of others, it seems to somehow be gentoo related.

Btw. I'm running the latest xorg-server and libraries (on amd64)

As an update. It seems to be working on the 9-5 (8.612) release of fglrx. That release only raports one XINERAMA extension that provides the correct info. DPMS also works again.

Confirmed as fixed on 9.8. Older versions are removed/masked so this is fixed.
