I confirm this bug. unrar-gpl-0.0.1_p20080417 is unable to extract any .rar file on my (amd64) machine.

That's not really a bug, but a limitation. unrar-gpl can only unpack old rar files created with pre-3.x versions of rar. Sadly there's no free software code out there unpacking current rar-files. It's even a high priority project of the FSF: http://www.fsf.org/campaigns/priority.html#rarv3 I've changed the description of unrar-gpl to make that fact more clear.
