I have not seen the problem in 3.0_betaX, I have not been working on stable as I am getting everything up to par for tree as far as development versions go. I have spoken with a few upstream devs on the issue and we all feel that it is nothing more then a false positive.

Got it today updating to 2.0.0.22 on ppc.

This message is a bit freaky, you should try to avoid it ;)
Comment 6 Rafał Mużyło 2009-10-26 04:26:08 UTC
I see this problem in 2.0.0.23 (yes, I did wait long
with that update).
It's obvious what should that be ('$ORIGIN'),
but it's hard to tell why for that one it gets
corrupted (actually it happens twice during build
- for dirver and one of instances of nsinstall).

Looks like a portage induced bug, as I don't see it in manual build
Comment 7 SpanKY gentoo-dev 2010-01-15 12:25:57 UTC
i doubt it's a bug in portage or scanelf. the build log shows in a few places:
-Wl,-rpath,'RIGIN'
while in most it (correctly) shows:
-Wl,-rpath,'$ORIGIN'

that isnt the kind of thing where portage or scanelf is involved.
Comment 8 Rafał Mużyło 2010-01-15 15:39:31 UTC
Let me repeat myself:
Looks like a portage induced bug, as I don't see it in manual build

That is, if I just ebuild-compile and go into WORKDIR,
correct commands are printed.

Anyway, at thunderbird 3.0 now, so low priority.
Comment 9 SpanKY gentoo-dev 2010-02-14 00:52:08 UTC
your use of "portage induced" is probably wrong. i'm not saying the ebuild or the patches it applies isnt causing a problem, i'm saying it has nothing to do with portage and/or scanelf.
Comment 10 Rafał Mużyło 2010-02-14 02:43:09 UTC
Well, if I run make manually on the src_configured tree,
I can't reproduce it, so I think it's probably
not quite correctly quoted somewhere, and portage ends up
expanding $O to ''.

tb-3.0.3 stable feel free to reopen if problem bares its ugly face again, please do not forget to update summary if you reopen.
