Upon startup of networkmanager, I get two of the the following message in syslog every six seconds: dbus-daemon: Rejected send message, 1 matched rules; type="method_call", sender=":1.50" (uid=0 pid=13400 comm="/usr/sbin/NetworkManager --pid-file /var/run/Netwo") interface="org.freedesktop.Hal.Device.KillSwitch" member="GetPower" error name="(unset)" requested_reply=0 destination="org.freedesktop.Hal" (uid=0 pid=8727 comm="/usr/sbin/hald --use-syslog --verbose=no ")) This behaviour did not occur with networkmanager-0.6.6. I have a Intel Pro 3945ABG that's using the iwl3945 kernel module and version 2.14.1.5 of net-wireless/iwl3945-ucode. I have the in-kernel rfkill module loaded and active. Ah. I just noticed that some information was missing from my previous emerge --info. I re-ran emerge --regen (There are some eclasses being overridden in the kde-testing layman overlay that seem to muck things up.). Anyway, here's the previously missing info from emerge --info Portage 2.1.6.11 (default/linux/x86/2008.0, gcc-4.3.3, glibc-2.9_p20081201-r2, 2.6.28-tuxonice-r3 i686) ================================================================= System uname: Linux-2.6.28-tuxonice-r3-i686-Intel-R-_Core-TM-_Duo_CPU_L2400_@_1.66GHz-with-gentoo-2.0.0 Timestamp of tree: Sat, 25 Apr 2009 20:30:01 +0000
Please ignore the emerge --info in the bug description and in Comment #1. This is the correct, full output from emerge --info. Rather looks like another sys-apps/dbus-1.2.12 regression. Does this also happen with sys-apps/dbus-1.2.3-r1?
(In reply to comment #3) > Rather looks like another sys-apps/dbus-1.2.12 regression. Does this also > happen with sys-apps/dbus-1.2.3-r1? > I was having the same issue. Reverting back to dbus-1.2.3-r1 seems to work, but as soon as I go to 1.2.12, the original issue occurs.

Created attachment 190061 [details, diff] add rule to hal to fix this issue That fixes it
This is a hal bug.
Fixed in hal-0.5.12_rc1-r2.
It is still spamming: dbus-daemon: Rejected send message, 1 matched rules; type="method_call", sender=":1.8" (uid=0 pid=3794 comm="/usr/sbin/NetworkManager --pid-file /var/run/Netwo") interface="org.freedesktop.Hal.Device.KillSwitch" member="GetPower" error name="(unset)" requested_reply=0 destination="org.freedesktop.Hal" (uid=0 pid=3622 comm="/usr/sbin/hald --use-syslog --verbose=no ")) to syslog. I'm using: NetworkManager-0.7.1-r4 dbus-1.2.12 hal-0.5.12_rc1-r6 Can this be reopened?
Different issue, different bug. You want bug #273907
