Please attach the build.log file of the failed emerge to this bug and post the output of 

  emerge -qpv mplayer

which should give more information than your mplayer line from your package.use file.

I think emerge fail because I won't have X 

I manually install mplayer with 
./configure --prefix=/usr/local/mplayer/ --disable-freetype --disable-tv --disable-tv-v4l1 --disable-tv-v4l2 --disable-tv-bsdbt848 --disable-tv-teletext --disable-x11 --disable-ivtv

The problem persists up to current versions of mplayer.
