Libertine offers an XeTex/XeLaTeX package to conveniently use their fonts; It would be nice if it were installed automatically, presumably conditioned on the xetex use flag. It's just one file: http://linuxlibertine.sourceforge.net/latex/xelibertine.sty Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce:
@tex: your thoughts please?
This is obsolete since "[t]he xelibertine package is quite old and unsupported" [1]. I suggest closing. [1] https://tex.stackexchange.com/questions/76406/how-to-use-old-style-numbers-with-xelibertine/76431#76431
Just in case the link above becomes stale, here's an excerpt: The up-to-date interface to Linux Libertine for XeLaTeX and LuaLaTeX is the package libertineotf. In order to get oldstyle digits, you can call it by \usepackage[libertine={Ligatures=TeX,Numbers=OldStyle}]{libertineotf}
Ah, but it just so happens that libertineotf is also obsolete (quoting from https://ctan.org/pkg/libertineotf?lang=en): "The bundle is now obsolete, being replaced by the libertine package." Personally, I don't understand why it would need a special (Xe)LaTeX package in any case, since it works just fine with fontspec. On a further note, Libertinus is an up-to-date fork of Linux Libertine, and comes with a high quality math font that plays well with XeLaTeX + unicode-math (see bug 772881).
